The Spanish Football Federation announced on Sunday that Morocco will host the 2018 Spanish Super Cup match between Barcelona and Sevilla. The match is scheduled to kick off at the Ibn Batouta stadium in Tangier on the 12th of August.
It will be the first time ever for the Super Cup to be held outside of Spain. Moreover, this is also the first time the final would be played as a one-off clash instead of a two-legged affair.
Barca won the last season’s domestic double after they routed Sevilla 5-0 in the Spanish Cup final. Consequently, the two teams will meet at the 45,000-capacity stadium, which was inaugurated in 2011.
