Minster El-Molla: Egypt to Announce Self-Sufficiency of Natural Gas Starting January 2019
The day has come when we can say that all the efforts that have been put into Zohr gas field have finally paid off! According to Enterprise Tarek El-Molla, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources, announced that Egypt will be exporting Natural gas starting January 2019, since that we would have reached self-sufficiency by then.
This can be a huge leap forward for Egypt’s economy … Yes, many would say that we were already exporting gas to Israel and it hasn’t really affected the economy, however, this time it would be different. The fact that we are self-sufficient will help us save money it in terms of internal usage and consumption of gas.
In addition, we will be able to export the gas with international prices, unlike the deal we have with Israel that forces us to export with a fraction of its price.
