Lebanese Actress, Manal Issa, Shakes Cannes Red Carpet With A Political Statement
While the media was shocked by Kristen Stewart going barefoot on the red carpet in Cannes 71st edition while protesting on women’s dress code, a Lebanese actress just outdid any inspirational statements on the history of red carpets. Manal Issa used the massive attention to her movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story was receiving, took things in her hand and unexpectedly held a sign that read “Stop the attack on Gaza”.
According to Palestinian Health Ministry, 60 people were killed in what has been referred to as a massacre. “It’s really crazy to be here with the films, with the filmmakers, talking about our future plans while our kids and families are suffering from the Israeli attack on them,” said Palestinian film producer and director, May Odeh.
