JET ZeroEmission: The First Flying Eco-friendly Boat Comes to Dubai
Boats are vehicles that travel in water, right? Yes, but they can also hover over water now. The inventor of L’Hydroptère and Dubai are cooperating to bring the world’s first flying boat, the JET ZeroEmission to Dubai. Just like it has zero emission, it makes zero noise and zero waves. To top it off, it’s eco-friendly. However, what is L’Hydroptère, and how eco-friendly is it?
L’Hydroptère
Alain Thébault, a French yachtsman, leader, and inventor created a sailing hydrofoil trimaran. With Éric Tabarly, a team of engineers and high-end expertise, they invented L’Hydroptère. It is a futuristic-looking boat with cutting-edge technology. The boat reduces carbon emissions, making it environmentally friendly as well.
The product turned into a concept of fueling boats on hydrofoils, and L’Hydroptère went ahead and started working on the JET ZeroEmission. Led by Thébault, JET ZeroEmission is meant to be a revolutionary first step towards making eco-friendly vehicles.
The UAE-based company, Zenith Marine Services LLC, signed a memorandum of understanding with JET ZeroEmission. Together they will manufacture, operate and launch the jet, bringing the future into Dubai. Thébault, the founder, said, “Dubai is an ideal destination for innovators and companies from around the world to develop their innovative projects and reach their desired success, which is why we have announced ‘The Jet’, a project that I had the privilege of conceiving with the team.”
In light of Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to make 75 percent of its energy sources clean, this works perfectly. It walks hand in hand with its mission to go green. So, Dubai will witness the premiere of the JET, but what is it actually?
The eco-friendly JET ZeroEmission
It’s the first clean energy jet that glides over the water; a flying boat. Normally, jets need gas or fuel to operate. This one is special because it’s eco-friendly. Being hydrogen-powered, it has zero-emission. The jet flies 80cm over the water. Take-off speed reaches 18 knots, and it can cruise at a speed of 35-40 knots. It has automatic software controls as well.
The vision of this jet is to provide a unique sea experience, flying in silence and cleanly. Since it’s going to be the first and only one in the world, access to the jet is very limited. The jet can carry from six up to eight passengers. Moreover, it will be available for the most glamourous hotels, and exclusive individuals.
The flying boat will soon grace Dubai waters, with no set date to launch the JET ZeroEmission.
