So we’re here to make it easier on you, suggesting which Egyptian shows to have on your radar. Grab your popcorn and sit tight to learn all about these anticipated releases.

‘Rose & Layla’

Sherlock Holmes has left the building because major stars Yosra and Nelly Kareem are teaming up for the crime-comedy, ‘Rose & Layla.’ This show has been teased about since as early as 2022, leaving audiences on the edge of their seats. Just from the teaser, the show mixes in wit and lightness such as with the backtrack of Marwan Moussa’s ‘Mafeesh Shabahy Fe Baladak.’ It’s written by Cris Cole and directed by Adrian Shergold. The show is set to air this Thursday, January 11.

‘Halah Khassah’ (A Special Case)

‘The Good Doctor’ meets court room drama or something else all together? You know how these teasers can be. But we don’t have to wait long to find out as ‘Halah Khassah’ starring Taha Dessouky and Ghada Adel is airing the day after tomorrow, January 3rd. From what we gathered, the story follows Dessouky’s character who is a trainee at Adel’s successful law firm and things take a turn and he may or may not have ADHD. But if he did, remember we called it. ‘Halah Khassah’ is directed by Abdel Aziz El Naggar; who is known for crafting projects for millennials such as ‘Bimbo’ or ‘Meen Qaal?!’

‘Gawla Akheera’ (Final Round)

Star Ahmed El Sakka is set to take us on a thrilling, heart-wrenching journey where he plays the role of a boxer who’s taking on one final round only to learn that he’s experiencing Alzheimer’s symptoms. That’s definitely one story you don’t want to miss; this show marks the first Egyptian project to premiere on the streaming platform Amazon Prime on January 25. It’s set to be written by Ahmed Nada and directed by Mariam Ahamdy.

‘W Bena Maad 2’ (We Have A Date 2)

If a show could be perfectly described as a comforting blanket, that show would be ‘W Bena Maad.’ Following family dynamics and relatable situations, the show is returning for a second season hopefully sometime this month. Starring the core cast of Sherine Reda and Sabry Fawaz along with a slew of rising stars, it’s written and directed by Hany Kamal; the man who brought us the first season also known as the other comforting blanket, the wholesome show, ‘Abo El Arousa.’

‘Howa W Heya W Homa’ (He, She & They)

This might be the dynamic duo we never knew we needed. Hesham Maged and Asmaa Galal are teaming up for the upcoming Ramadan show ‘Howa W Heya W Homa.’ Though not much yet is revealed about the plot, this pair isn’t the only thing exciting as it’s set to be written and directed by Sherine and Khaled Diab known for heavy-hitters like ‘Taht El Wasya’ but they can also make us laugh with unforgettable projects like ‘Bolbol Hayran’ or Asaal Eswed.’ If anything is for sure, is that this will be an interesting story with a vibrant cast.

‘Finding Ola 2’

We just can’t get enough of the character of Ola Abdelsabour. Returning last year, nearly 12 years after it ended was the story of ‘Ayza Atgawez.’ The journey of Ola’s character played by Hend Sabry as she goes through everything from a divorce to parental struggles and much more. Through it all, the quirkiness and relatable element of Ola that viewers adored was not lost and for that reason, we’re getting a second season of ‘Finding Ola’ this year. The hit show is directed by Hady El Baghoury.

‘Selat Rahem’ (A Kinship Relationship)

For an extra dose of drama this year, we’re looking forward to ‘Selat Rahem’ starring Eyad Nassar, Asmaa Abulyazeid, and many more stars. The show which hopefully airs sometime around the Ramadan marathon is set to follow family dynamics that seem like they’re going to be quite complicated if anything from the name. The story is written by Mohamed Hesham Obayya known for think pieces such as ‘Betlooh El Rouh’ or ‘Resalet El Emam.’

‘Ekamah Gabreyah’ (Forced Stay)

From the wickedly genius mind that brought us Yousra’s ‘Kheyanet hahd’ comes ‘Ekamah Gabreyah’ scheduled to air this month. The thriller is set to star Hana El Zahed, Mohamed El Sharnouby, and Sabrine. Though not much is revealed about the show’s plot, we know we’ll be waiting on the edge of our seats.

2024 seems like it’s going to be a fruitful year for the entertainment industry, as we’re looking forward to these shows. Don’t forget to let us know which ones you’re anticipating the most.
