Elissa’s Long-Awaited Album is Already Making Mad Waves, But is This Really Her Last?

Yesterday, the Lebanese superstar Elissa released her long-awaited album that was postponed several times due to COVID-19. Produced and distributed by Rotana, the new album “Sahibat Raey” (a woman with an opinion), features 17 songs and has been trending everywhere since it dropped. Elissa collaborated with several artists and poets on this album, including Ramy Gamal, Amir Teima, Mohamed Rahim, among others.

The Lebanese star recently tweeted saying that she had a difficult start to her career due to criticism, but she got through everything because her father taught her to be fearless. In the same tweet, she explained that she is now celebrating her 20th anniversary of success with a clear conscience because instead of being victimized, she has an opinion. 20 years ago, Elissa released “Baddy Doub”, which, back then, attracted lots of criticism because she was deemed to be inappropriately dressed. Today, she recreated that look in her new album.

In April, Elissa released a music video of her song “Hanghani Kaman wi Kaman” (We shall sing again), one of the tracks in her new album. The song featured the special appearance of Haifa Wehbe and some of her fans in a stay-at-home themed video conference.

Hours after the new album was out, it topped the charts on Deezer in all the Arab countries.

Last year, Elissa announced that this album will be the last one in her career, creating waves of disappointment across the internet. Elissa clearly meant it when she said she’s preparing the album “with a lot of love and passion” because the songs are emotional, relatable, and inspiring.

WE SAID THIS: Have you listened to the album yet?
