Celebrating Beloved Poet Nizar Qabbani’s 93rd Birthday

The 21st of March is just not Mother’s Day, but also marks the day where one of the most iconic Arab poets and writers of all time was born: Nizar Qabbani.

In celebration of Qabbani’s 93rd birthday, Google has released a series of four illustrations on their home page to be the Google doodles of the day. The illustrations include imagery from Qabbani’s life, which had made their way into his poems, such as the jasmine flowers that dotted his garden in his home in Damascus and the palm trees that were everywhere in sight during his time in Baghdad.
