Exclusive: Mohamed Fares on Upcoming Capri Phone Photography Exhibit

Known for his mastery in design, Egyptian chief designer and co-founder of the Alchemy Design Studio Mohamed Fares is coming back with a newfound project, one that steps away from the world of architecture and into the realm of photography. From July 6 to July 9, he is taking part in the 11th edition of Nomad Capri with his latest photography exhibit dubbed “Life Through My Eyes iPhone Series.” It is presented by Le Lab and is set to take place at the prestigious Certosa di San Giacomo, one of the oldest historical buildings on the island of Capri set along the shimmering Mediterranean sea.

The exhibit is all about showcasing photos taken using the iPhone of beautiful and unexpected encounters in one’s life. It’s about the nature of spontaneous photography and it represents life through the eyes of Fares. All the photos fall under three main taglines. There’s “The Artist Of All Time” which is representative of God and so all the photos that fall under this tagline are about praising nature and God’s creations. The second tagline is “Keep Walking” and it focuses on photos taken throughout Fares’ travels. The final tagline is “Classical Beauty”, it consists of everything that we see as timeless.

“I started this project way back when the second model of the iPhone was out. Over the course of many years, I managed to take more than 10,000 photos,” Fares explained. Since that time, Fares used every new model of the iPhone to continue his documentation process and even displayed all the iPhones he used during his journey with photography at an exhibit prior to Capri.

Prior to his dive into the world of photography, Fares has always been known as a leading figure in architecture, specialized in groundbreaking designs. He is spearheading several avant garde architectural projects across Egypt including a housing project at Ras El Hikma. He was also part of the unique Egyptian sensory adventure known as “The King’s Feast”, which was the debut event for Cairo Food Week. With so many projects under his belt, we cannot wait to see what else he has planned for the future.
