Actor Leonardo DiCaprio Expresses Support For Studies On The Red Sea’s Coral Reefs
Academy Award-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio has declared his support for research projects to investigate the Red Sea’s coral reefs, these projects aim to maintain their health in the face of increasing climate change. The actor explained on Instagram how the coral reef in the northern Red Sea is able to teach scientists how other reefs may adapt to climate change.
In a post on his Instagram account, which is followed by over 56.8 million users, DiCaprio stated, “in the Red Sea, coral reefs are still in relatively good shape compared to other reefs around the world. Scientists want to study exactly what about this area allows coral reefs to thrive and what the Red Sea can tell them about other coral reefs.”
Leo is not just known for his killer acting skills, dating young models and “what about your first Oscarz” moment, the renowned actor happens to serve on the board of several environmental protection organizations including the World Wildlife Fund, the Natural Resources Defense Council, the International Fund for Animal Welfare, Pristine Seas and Oceans 5. With a long history of philanthropic activity, he focuses on marine life and climate change issues, all of this is a natural progression to his self-titled foundation launched in 1998 at the age of 24 with the mission to protect the Earth.
