Thousands of People Visit this Tree in Qena to Get Healed
According to Ahram El Watan, there is a tree located in Dishna, Qena believed to have supernatural healing powers. This miraculous tree, which is a 600-year-old Blackthorn, is said to have been planted by Sheikh Nasr El Dein.
The “miracle tree” secretes a red liquid from its slits, which has led to the common belief that it “bleeds” on the day Sheikh Nasr El Dein died. It continues to bleed every Monday and Friday.
The fluid is collected by children who climb up this notorious tree or by women who use cotton to soak up the revered liquid, which is then rubbed on the bodies of the ill for healing to begin.
To fully complete this ritual, one must visit the shrine of Sheikh Nasr El Din and have lunch under the tree for three consecutive Fridays.
Sheikh Rashad Mahmoud Hussein, who takes care of the tree, claims that whoever tries to cut the branches of the tree will become disabled.
Ibrahim Abdellah, an agriculture researcher (and bubble burster) who holds a Master’s in Agricultural Science told Emirates 24/7 that the red liquid is normal plant discharge and is not actually a healing fluid.
Still, the tree receives thousands of visitors annually.
