Things You Didn’t Know You Could Do While at the Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Summer coming to an end is one of my most dreaded times of year, but putting aside my emotional distress, it only makes way for the fall events and shenanigans that engulf our region.
As November inches closer, I begin to get that #AbuDhabiGP itch. Having attended the previous years events, I’m sure this year like all the rest will not fall short of all big bang attractions Yas Island is so well known for. If you haven’t been before well. Let’s just say you are missing out on the biggest party weekend of the UAE.
For those of you who haven’t attended before here’s a list of things to do, some off the beaten path and others more conventional but also in their own right unmissable attractions.
Catch some of the world’s biggest artists performing live!
Imagine ending everyday of the races, with some of the world’s best selling entertainment out there. From the Chemical Brothers on 25th to Rihanna‘s new world tour on the 27th and newly announced Lionel Richie on 26th of November. Oh, and did we mention that his daughter Sofia Richie is dating Justin Bieber. Ya, that’s where you know her from, can we expect a cameo from the two?! *wink wink*
Rub shoulders with some of the world’s coolest celebs
Last year saw the likes of Kevin Hart, Ludacris, Tyrese, and Hend Sabry all chilling and catching the races from the stands and yachts surrounding the track. I can’t wait to see who I’ll be spotting this year! If you want to guarantee a sighting and be among the jet setting celebs, we recommend grabbing yourself a Paddock ticket for that real VVIP experience.
Eat, and I mean eat well
Simply indulge in all of the food from all around the world located at the Oasis’s next to your grandstands. Also, super close to the Circuit is the Yas Mall, which has multiple food restaurants ready to accommodate various budget, or hit up Ciprianni’s for one of the best of menus and views Yas Island has to offer. Sit on the terrace while sipping your drink and mixing and mingling with the Middle East’s glitterati.
Play!
Hitting up the races doesn’t mean you have to leave the kids at home, with your tickets you receive complimentary access to Ferrari world or Yas Water World on the race weekend, another dose to get your adrenaline pumping. Don’t get me wrong this isn’t just for kids, we know the child in you won’t be disappointed. Or if you are in the competitive racing spirit, take you and the squad for your very own mini battle at the Kart Zone located inside the Circuit. Not to mention live music, competitions and entertainment will be running throughout the whole weekend at the Circuit.
Get-up close and personal with #AbuDhabiGP
If you want to have the chance to get really, and by really, we mean REALLY close to the garages where the teams will be assembling the cars, head over to the “Pit Lane” walk on Thursday. You can up your Snapchat and Insta Stories game to a whole new level.
If you have a yacht or a friend with a yacht, then you just got your VIP seat!
The yacht parties are also one of the most sought after. A first row seat right on the tracks, from a floating luxury vessel; this is literally Monaco on steroids.
Party!
The world’s biggest clubs open their doors for the weekend at Yas Island, from the lounge vibes at Iris to the mega clubs like MAD, VIP Room, White and many others, the world’s biggest celebs & DJs are hosted in grand style. In the past years we saw the likes of The Kardashians, Future, Solumon, Jason Derulo, Trey Songz, 50 Cent, Akon and many more. Not only is your day life covered but your night life too.
Catch some rays!
Run off and catch some Vitamin D before or after the races at Yas beach, some of the coolest pop up beach locations set up shop during the three day weekend.
WE SAID THIS: In Abu Dhabi it’s not just about the races but everything that comes with it, to make sure you don’t miss out on this killer weekend, book your tickets here.
