There’s a Bahraini Ramadan Contest Where the Winner Gets an ‘Ethiopian Housemaid’
Bahraini citizens have been raging over an ad that was published in one of their newspapers. The ad called for participation in a contest where the winner will have an “Ethiopian housemaid” as the prize. The contest was also scheduled to take place during the Holy month of Ramadan.
The unethical, racist, and inhuman ad was published in the newspaper for a housemaid recruitment agency called Al Hazeem Manpower Agency.
The rage of the Bahraini citizens was met with a swift and critical reaction by the authorities, as they acted immediately to penalize the agency and suspended its license.
The Bahraini authorities also filed a case of human trafficking against the agency’s owner and management. “Immediate measures were taken, including suspending the license of the concerned employment agency.” Stated Bahrain’s Labour Market Regulatory Authority.
WE SAID THIS: We’re proud of the firm stance of the Bahraini citizens and authorities against that racist Agency, and we hope that the newspaper involved faces consequences as well.
