For the Record: Soundgarden Readying Three-Disc Compilation

Soundgarden

  • Soundgarden have announced that they will be releasing a three-disc rarities collection titled Echo of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across the Path, to be released next month. The first disc, titled Originals, includes Soundgarden tracks previously released in compilations, and two new tracks, “Kristi” and “Storm”, which you can hear below.

Disc two, titled Covers, includes just that – covers of songs by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Ramones, The Doors and more, and the third, Oddities, contains unreleased remixes and instrumentals from past studio sessions. Here’s the first taste and a never-before-heard original “Storm”:

  • And the members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam shared the stage for a short performance as super band Temple of the Dog at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit in California, performing “Hunger Strike” off TOTD’s only album. The event is held annually to benefit the Bridge School for children with special needs.

  •  If you didn’t get a chance to watch a horror movie this Halloween, here’s the alternative – Alice in Chains have just released a creepy-ass video for “Phantom Limb”, off their 2013 album The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. You can watch the video here or download it for free as part of the BitTorrent bundle [https://bundles.bittorrent.com/bundles/aliceinchains]:

  • And original creepster Marilyn Manson has just released new music featuring the vocals you remember all too well and some easy guitars. “Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge” is the first track off Manson‘s upcoming 2015 album and can be downloaded from his official website for free:

  • Liam Gallagher announced this week on Twitter that his band Beady Eye, also known as the Noel-less Oasis, have officially split up after five years. The band had released just two albums: 2011’s Different Gear, Still Speeding and 2013’s BE.

  • But there is some good news for all Tool fans – guitarist Adam Jones recently posted a photo on his Instagram account of the band in the studio, including vocalist Maynard James Keenan, who customarily only joins in in the later stages of the recording process, so… here’s hoping this means a new album is coming soon.

  • Young man with a big voice George Ezra (he’s just 21!) has just followed up hit singles “Budapest” and “Blame It On Me” with third single from his debut album, titled “Listen to the Man”, and the video features none other than Sir Ian McKellen:

  • In other news, Imagine Dragons‘ new one “I Bet My Life” is being compared to Mumford & Sons, and you can decide for yourself whether that’s a good or bad thing:

  • And Ingrid Michaelson tackles facing your fears in feel-good tune “Afterlife”:
