Rally Jameel: The Region’s First Women’s Only Rally Kicks Off Its Second Edition

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, Rally Jameel, the region’s first women’s only navigational rally, kicked off its second edition on March 8 at Saudi Arabia’s AlUla Elephant Rock. The rally, which will cover 1,600 km of challenging desert terrain over five days, will feature 82 racers from 25 nations, including drivers and co-drivers.

While it’s not mainly about speed, Rally Jameel will be looking to test a competitor’s precision driving and navigational skills. Starting the journey in AIUla and ending in Al Qassim Province, drivers will have a golden opportunity to familiarize themselves with the local culture and history.

Saudi participant and third-place finisher in the first edition, Maha Al-Hamali said to Arab News, “I’m happy to be taking on this incredible journey again with fellow women from all over the world during International Women’s Day.”

Al-Hamali expressed that this motorsports event is a testament to the fact that women are capable of taking on new and challenging experiences. She emphasized that with the Kingdom’s recent decision to allow women to drive, “Saudi women will now have a strong presence in Rally Jameel.”
