PSG’s $268M Offer for Lamine Yamal: What’s The Latest Update?
Earlier this year, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) initially offered $214 million (€200 million) to FC Barcelona for their prodigy Lamine Yamal, an offer that Barça president Joan Laporta turned down.
They went even further when they upped the offer to a staggering $268M in mid-June. This all came after the departure of their star player, Kylian Mbappe, who ended up joining FC Barcelona.
Why Such An Offer To Lamine Yamal?
This year, 17-year-old soccer player Yamal, born to a Moroccan father and a mother from Equatorial Guinea, etched his name in the Euro history books after he became the youngest player to score in a Euro game. Beyond that, he is also now the youngest player to ever appear for a team in the Euro Cup finals.
The player has been on everyone’s radar, especially after becoming a social media sensation after a picture of him as a baby with Lionel Messi circulated across the internet.

After PSG smashed the world transfer record they set in 2017 by offering FC Barcelona $268M for Yamal, many expected the club to take the offer. Yet, according to a report by Yahoo Sports, FC Barcelona refused the offer before the Euros began, and Yamal remained with the club.
