Profile: Elissa Freiha, Womena, and “LebanOFF”, a Visual Poem Dedicated to Lebanon
It’s always good to read about female entrepreneurs breaking barriers, isn’t it?
Elissa Freiha is a young Entrepreneur, Motivational Speaker, and Co-Founder of Womena, the largest platform that supports and empowers women in entrepreneurship and technology in the Middle East. In 2019, Womena launched the region’s first accelerator program for female-led startups, Womentum.
Whenever Freiha went to investment events, she was mistaken for being an intern or an investor’s daughter. As a result, she decided to give female investors a platform, to be recognized and supported.
Freiha is a highly-accomplished Emirati Businesswoman, of Lebanese and American decent; she was recently featured in Forbes’ Power Businesswomen in The Middle East 2020!
Freiha was also listed as one of the BBC’s 30 women under 30, and as one of the 100 most influential Arabs by Arabian Business.
Inspired by the ongoing revolution in her hometown, Freiha posted a visual poem calling for an end to corruption in Lebanon, under the title LebanOFF, Lebanon.
