New Egyptian Traffic Amendments End License Withdrawal Law

Drivers of Cairo, beware the new amendments that have been added to the traffic laws. The National Safety Council has agreed to lots of changes, and the biggest one is that your license will never be withdrawn again.

Instead of handing your license over to an officer, now we have a point system where license holders get 30 points. With each violation, you lose points, and after all your points are deducted, your license gets withdrawn for 30 days. To get your license back, you need to enter a driving school to learn more about the traffic laws.

Another amendment is that citizens are required to attend theoretical and practical driving classes for a certain period of time before applying for a license.
