Muslims Who Commit Suicide Not Non-Believers, Azhar Scholar Says

The Professor of Jurisprudence and Islamic Law at Al-Azhar University, Ahmed Karima, has stated in an interview according to Al-Watan News, on Al-Hadath Al Yawm channel, that if a person commits suicide, he/she is not considered as a non-believer as agreed upon by the 4 Imams”.
Karima stated, ”Suicide is a huge crime, it’s one of the greatest sins, and the person who commits suicide is a sinner but not a disbeliever or an infidel.”
He added and said, that the person who commits suicide is washed, shrouded, and receives a proper funeral prayer as a typical Muslim.

Multiple Sheikhs agreed and others have disregarded the statement, taking TV platforms by a storm.
