Muslim Preacher Says Wives Are Allowed to Work If Husbands Take 30% of Their Salaries
So Ashraf Al-Feel, a preacher and host of the religious program “Fataawah” on Al-Hayat 2 TV channel, received a message from a troubled wife whose husband takes all of her salary. The woman reached out to the preacher for help and advice, but Al-Feel, sadly, asked her to stay at home if her husband could provide for her.
He also added that the husband shouldn’t take the entire salary, but only a portion, 30% exactly, since “the husband agreed to have her spend around eight hours of her day absent from the household,” so it’s some sort of tax, or like a deducted salary as if she was a maid in his harem.
I’m really curious to know which part of Sharia he actually based his fatwa on. Oh, and doesn’t the wife have expenses that she needs to take care of as well that have nothing to do with the household? She could be saving up for a posh gown, a course that she wants to enroll in or just saving up for the sake of saving up! What’s wrong with you, Al-Feel? She came to you for help when she was facing this problem with her husband and all you did is ask her to stay at home?!
WE SAID THIS: Look at the world electing women for presidents and army chiefs, and then look at us, stuck at the rockbottom of medieval misconceptions.
