In Pictures: The Golden Age of Egyptian Cinema Gets Colorized

Photos of colorized scenes for famous Egyptian films were circulating on Facebook today, and we couldn’t help but reminisce about Egypt’s golden age of cinema all over again.

The images were shared by Khalid Abdel Rahman, who explained that they were made using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology on the MyHeritage website. These images are from a collection that was recently released online by Akkasah, the Centre for Photography at New York University Abu Dhabi.

Named after the late film writer and critic, Samir Farid, the collection features a range of negatives taken on set famous Egyptian movies, produced between 1937-1988, including Eve’s Daughters (1954), Wedding Night Widow (1974), among others.

These were our favorites, take a look!
