Major Airline Emirates Suspends Israel Flights With No End In Sight

Emirates has indefinitely halted operations to Tel Aviv and this is considered the first time it fully suspends flights to and from Tel Aviv. Back on October 12, Emirates initially canceled its flights to Tel Aviv because of safety concerns posed by the Gaza genocide that began on October 7. Since then, they extended the suspension multiple times. Changing things up, this marks the first instance of Emirates indefinitely suspending operations to Tel Aviv.

A spokesperson for Emirates gave more information on the suspension, “We are closely monitoring the situation in Israel and are in close contact with the relevant authorities. Customers with onward connections to Tel Aviv on Emirates flights will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin until further notice.”

The airline’s history with Israel goes back to June 2022 when the first Emirates flight to Tel Aviv took off. This flight kicked off a daily service connecting the two cities which was spurred by the singing of the Abraham Accords.
