ADFW 2024: Insights, Innovation, and Investment in Abu Dhabi
The third edition of Abu Dhabi Finance Week (ADFW) kicked off on December 9, 2024, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council.
The highly anticipated event, which will run until December 12, has drawn over 20,000 leaders, experts, and executives from across the financial sector, collectively representing assets worth more than $42.5 trillion, according to Economy Middle East.
A Packed Agenda: 60 Events and 350 Sessions
This year’s ADFW features an extensive lineup of over 60 events and 350 thematic sessions, showcasing contributions from 600 influential speakers.
These sessions address a diverse range of topics centered on the year’s theme, “Welcome to the Capital of Capital.” The discussions explore economic, human, cultural, environmental, and technological capital—all vital components of Abu Dhabi’s ascent as a financial powerhouse.
Flagship forums include the Abu Dhabi Economic Forum, Asset Abu Dhabi, RESOLVE 2024, Fintech Abu Dhabi, and the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Finance Forum (ADSFF). These events have attracted senior government officials, global investment leaders, and key decision-makers.
Exploring the “Capital of Capital”
The concept of “Capital of Capital” took center stage during Al Zaabi’s keynote address. He explained that true capital extends beyond monetary wealth.
Drawing historical parallels, he highlighted how cultural, technological, and human capital had driven the progress of great civilizations—from the engineering feats of ancient Rome to the technological breakthroughs of modern economies.
“Cultural capital is the soul of a society,” Al Zaabi noted, emphasizing its role in shaping identity and creativity, according to Economy Middle East. He also stressed the importance of technological capital in fueling innovation and human capital as the driving force behind societal and economic transformation.
Top Financial Leaders Take the Stage
ADFW 2024 features a stellar lineup of speakers from the global financial landscape. Among the most notable names are Ray Dalio, founder and CIO mentor of Bridgewater Associates; Larry Fink, chairman and CEO of BlackRock; and Jane Fraser, CEO of Citigroup.
Other distinguished participants include Sergio Ermotti, group CEO at UBS, and Clare Woodman, head of EMEA and CEO at Morgan Stanley.
