A Scoop Of Hope: Dolphins Grace Istanbul’s Shoreline Once Again Amid Lockdown Measures
As much as humans might be suffering from the lockdown, there are other species who are enjoying it while it lasts!
Dolphins were spotted swimming in the Bosphorus, in Istanbul. Although this is not a unique sight in Turkey’s biggest city, they are rarely seen close to the shoreline. The halting of ferries and fishing in the usually-busy waterway prompted the beautiful mammals into swimming closer to the shore.
With less sea traffic, and less air and sea pollution, the environment is breathing, and marine animals are finally enjoying having the water all for themselves.
Istanbul has been in lockdown as part of the Turkish government’s efforts to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
