With all the horrifying photos and live coverage of the Dubai hotel fire that took place on New year’s Eve, this must be the scariest of them all. Photographer, Dennis Borja Mallari, planned on capturing the beauty of Dubai’s annual fireworks at Burj Khalifa, only to find himself hours later trapped in a burning hotel then dangling out a window.
The 37-year-old photographer was on the 48th floor of the Address Downtown Dubai Hotel, with an exquisite view of the highly anticipated New Year’s Eve show, yet at 9:30 P.M the fire broke out and he courageously hung out of the window using only a cable wire and belt. Mallari posted a series of Facebook videos while waiting for rescue. The photographer explained his decision to CNN, “If I go there, inside to try to go exit, I’m not going to die because of the fire, because of the smoke.”
Shortly later he was rescued, given oxygen, led into a smoke-clogged stairwell and treated for smoke inhalation. Yet another example of how Firefighters and Civil Defense should be handling crisis.

Sorry for the announcement. Happy New Year to all.
Salamat sa belt, cable wire, sa civil defense, mga kaibigan at sa Dios.
