There are countless advantages to growing your own vegetables at home. To begin with, the seeds are not expensive and you won’t have to worry about any kind of chemicals being sprayed all over them. To add to that, the feeling of satisfaction you’ll get once you start to see them grow is just indescribable. And the best part about it is that it will help you stick to “eating your greens” and staying healthy. Most of them look good too!

Plant these seeds at home and you end up, literally, making your own salad!

Tomato

via wide open eats

Don’t make the seeds crowd on each other, give them enough space to branch out, place them somewhere where they can have direct light, make sure there’s enough air circulation if you place your pot indoors, and water regularly, and you’ll have your tomatoes ready, even better than the ones you usually buy.

Cucumber

via GrowUrban

Cucumbers are an easy vegetable to grow. Keep the seeds hydrated, and give them enough sunlight, you’ll see them grow faster than you think.

Cabbage

via Balcony Garden Web

Cabbage seeds need a warm and sunny place to germinate. Make sure to water them regularly and keep an eye out for insects that might damage your little cabbage.

Chili Pepper

They look beautiful, and that’s reason enough to start having them at home, even if you won’t use them as food. Keep the soil moist, but don’t overwater them, and place them in a sunlit area. They’re a bit slow to grow though, so be patient with them.

Lettuce

via Morning Chores

Like tomatoes, lettuce is another fast-growing vegetable. All it needs is high temperature, good sunlight, and plenty of water. Lettuce makes a great foundation for salads, so it will be an ideal choice if you’re looking to follow a healthy diet.

Sweet Bell Pepper

via Gardening Steps

Before you start, be sure to choose a wide pot and a sunny location. Water it regularly, but don’t overdo it. These pretty peppers are very rich in nutrients and vitamins, so if you take good care of them, you’ll be well-rewarded.
