Egyptian Producer Mohamed Hefzy Selected as Jury Member at BFI London Film Festival

Egyptian producer and scriptwriter Mohamed Hefzy has been announced as a jury member at the 63rd  BFI London Film Festival. The press release announced the selection of the award-winning producer, as well as shedding light to his work with Mohamed Diab in Clash movie, which screened in Un Certain Regard at Cannes and in LFF Competition in 2016

Taking place from Oct. 2 till 13, Britain’s leading film event announced multiple juries as English actress, Lena Headey from Game of Thrones TV series, editor of UK film magazine Total Film, Jane Crowther, English actress Hayley Squires and director Sudabeh Mortezai.

“London film festival has always been one of my favorite festivals because it really brings the best of the year’s cinema from all over the world and presents them in a great environment. I love it because I get to watch films rather than take meetings,” the producer told us.

“I have had films in London every single year for the last decade. This year I was disappointed not to have any films, but was more than rewarded with this invitation to the jury,” the Egyptian star added.

Mohamed Hefzy was recently honored at the 41st Festival Cinéma Méditerranéen Montpellier; as well as chosen as chose a member at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences and a jury member at the Horizons section at the 75th Venice International Film Festival. In 2016, the movie Clash made it as the opening film of the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. 

Hefzy is currently working on a collaboration with Egyptian director, Amr Salama, and Netflix MENA to bring Ahmed Khaled Tawfik’s series Ma Waraa Al-Tabiaa to life.
