A New Charity to Be Established in Honor of the Late Sheikh Khalid Al Qasimi
This new charitable foundation is being established to honour the late Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi and focus on continuing his humanitarian efforts. It’ll operate as a non-profit organization that provides not only support, but also enhance healthcare, education, and infrastructure on both local and international levels.
His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, father of Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi issued the Emirati Decree to establish this charity in memory of his late son. According to The National, Sheikh Khalid tragically passed earlier this month in London at the young age of 39. “The foundation aims to commemorate the blessed anniversary of the late Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, and to continue to realise his vision and aspirations in humanitarian work,” Wam, the UAE state news agency, reported.
The charity’s work will include “sustainable programmes and projects that serve humanity in all fields at the local and international levels, providing assistance to support and improve the healthcare, education and infrastructure sectors, and any other objectives assigned to the foundation by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees,” the announcement read.
Three days of national mourning took place following the death of H.H Sheikh Khalid. The young royal was an architect and the chairman of the Sharjah Urban Planning Council. He was also the designer behind the British menswear label Qasimi, whose debut collection premiered back in 2008.
