Three months ago, Egypt was removed from the US State Department travel warning list, only to be added again in December following the bombing of St. Mark’s Coptic Cathedral in Cairo. Tourism has been suffering for years, so has the economy, yet we’ve been slowly noticing the return of  tourists, and CNN just made our day.

Geoffrey Kent, founder of Abercrombie & Kent, just recommended Egypt as a travel destination to CNN. “I’d highly recommend going to Egypt now. I traveled there at the end of 2015 and it is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience to see these sites. For instance, at Abu Simbel, I was in Ramses temple and had it all to myself for a few minutes,” Kent said.

“As I was climbing up the narrow staircase into the center of Cheops Pyramid, there were only a few people that I had to sidestep. It’s a very different experience doing that when the crowds (and heat) are at full force,” Kent added.
