WIRED IN: GoPro HERO3, Linkedin Profile, Global Facebook Pages & more…

>> GoPro just unveiled its latest line-up of Hero cameras, the top model, the HERO3 Black Edition, is 30% smaller and 25% lighter than the HERO2 priced at $400. Its image processor is twice as fast, and the camera can capture 4k video at 15 frames/second, 2.7k video at 30 frames/second.

It’s three times as fast at photo capture and can do up to 12 megapixels for still photos with burst shots of 30 frames per second! All the GoPros now come with WiFi and improved sound quality. There has also been improvements in the software and apps that are used to control the camera.

>> Apple invited select members of the media to a special event on Tuesday, October 23 at the California Theatre in San Jose(invitation below), promising that they have “a little more to show you” as it says on the invitation. It’s pretty obvious that Apple will launch a new 7.85-inch “iPad mini” at the event with rumors of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display announcement, a tweak to the 10-inch iPpad introducing the Lightning connector and 4G/LTE, updated iMacs and maybe also an Ivy Bridge Mac mini.

>> Until now, a Facebook Page shows up only in the language it is created in, alienating foreign fans.  Well now they’ve launched Global Pages meaning they can appear translated into a visitor’s local language. Global Pages could help a billion language-fragmented users commune around what they like.

With the new Global Pages structure, brands can set up localized versions of their cover photos, profile photos, Page apps, milestones, “about” info, and news feed stories. An English version’s cover might say “Hello” while users visiting from Spanish-speaking countries would see a version welcoming them “Hola”. >>With more events in the smartphone industry, Google is throwing an Android event onthe 29th of October and rumor has it they’ll be announcing a new Nexus Device. Coinciding with Microsoft’s rival Windows Phone 8 launch event, it is expected that Google will talk about version 4.2 Jelly Bean of Android rather than announcing 5.0 Key Lime Pie so soon after the Nexus 7 which introduced 4.1 Jelly Bean.
