Souad Massi Looks Stunning in Amna Elshandaweely’s Latest Shoot

A decade ago, the fashion scene in Egypt may have been dwindling, but now it seems that we’re on our way to a full blown fashion industry. From names that have made international headlines such as Okhtein, to local gems such as Nada Akram, homegrown Egyptian brands have started to truly make a name for themselves.

One designer that has been taking over our Instagram feeds is Amna Elshandaweely. The former Project Runway ME contestant has made it her mission to user her platform for goodwill. Last year, she took to the streets of Downtown, Cairo for a photo shoot where she promoted and sold her collection. She then donated all the proceeds for goodwill.

This year, she has wowed us all over again with her latest collaboration with Algerian artist Souad Massi. Yesterday, Elshandaweely posted pictures on her Instagram account, showing Massi aboard a felucca boat and  donning her beautiful designs. The songstress’ aura seemed to have fused perfectly with Elshandaweely’s tribal style of clothing.

“I have always been a fan of Souad Massi. Her voice has the complete power to inspire me, as well as make me cry at the same time,” Elshandaweely tells us. “I usually only dress people up  who fit my brand. Never have I ever obsessed about wanting a celebrity wear my brand, but when I found out Massi was coming to Cairo, I knew I had to contact her.”
