Imagine a Football World Cup like the one the world goes crazy for every four years, but with clubs instead of national teams!

You have all the right to be as excited as we are, as this might actually be happening! The plan for a global football club competition backed by Saudi Arabia was shelved by FIFA; but according to UK’s Times Newspaper, the proposal is back on the agenda.

The 24-team Club World Cup will be discussed at FIFA’s council meeting in Kigali, Rwanda later this week. If everything goes according to plan, the Cup will be held every four years starting 2021! Japan’s SoftBank and Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund had originally pledged $25 billion for a 12-year deal!

Saudi Arabia is pushing to expand its influence in sports, and this Club World Cup is guaranteed to dramatically increase that influence. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Ajax, and the two Milan clubs are expected to be invited to take part in the first Club World Cup.

WE SAID THIS: We’re so excited to see this come to life!
