The Final Ramadan Countdown: Where to Eat in Cairo
We all start Ramadan out wanting to eat at home everyday, with your grandma’s and your mama’s home-cooked meals. Then as the days dwindle on, you start getting bored and your mind starts to wonder, “Mmm how about a burger, what about some gourmet food that will just hit the fasting spot?”
Now with a little less than a week to go, here are the places you should hit up or order from before it’s too late:
Paul Korba
Tucked away in a quaint little building in Korba, Paul recently opened it’s doors in Heliopolis. With a great outdoor patio/garden, we totally recommend going and having fetar or sehour there.
The menu included a choice between red capsicum and traditional lentil soups, followed by either Salade de Patates or Salade de Quinoa et Crevettes. For the main course, three were offered to us to highlight the Ramadan menu: Boeuf Bourguignon; Loup de Mer Grillé and a Poutrine de Poulet Grille.
We also got lucky with a choice of dessert pies, including fruit berries and chocolate tarts. We highly recommend the chocolate dates.
Kitchen Moves
Sometimes we just don’t feel like cooking or ordering junk food for that matter. So turning to caterers seems like one of the best options. Caterers who put a funky twist on the food is even better for our tired minds and hungry stomachs.

Al Ahed Al Gadeed
Generous portions of authentic Egyptian food are what Al Ahd Al Gadeed Restaurant in the heart of El Hussein offers.
With spacious areas that can hold big groups, delicious food and a very friendly staff, you feel right at home at this 63-year-old restaurant. We recommend their grilled kofta, mombar, molokheya and fatta. And if you’re lucky and it’s available, their konafa with mehalabeya!
Goya Sushi
The more you order the less you pay. So not only are you not leaving your house, but the sushi is coming to you! Goya Sushi happens to be one of our favorite sushi places and oh, how we’ve been craving those little fishies for the past month.
We’ve decided to no longer hold back on indulging in our craving, even if it is Ramadan.

Burger Fuel
A big juicy burger, literally makes our mouth water at the thought of it. A month of non-greasy food is one month too long.
Burger Fuel just opened their doors in Maadi landing straight from New Zealand and let us tell you, their buttered pickles and fat beef patties are literally a party in your mouth.
Enjoy and indulge:
