Via Get Healthy Cairo

On the 14th of December, two of the most adventurous and adrenaline junkies in the Arab World started one of the toughest challenges known to mankind. An unsupported, 3,000 nautical mile rowing journey from the Spanish Canary Islands to Antigua; crossing the majestic Atlantic Ocean.

We made it to Cannes Film Festival! On 14 December 2017, Omar Nour and I set off on the world’s toughest rowing race – an unsupported, 3,000 nautical mile journey from the Spanish Canary Islands to Antigua. We underwent 12 months of rigorous mental and physical preparation for the grueling challenge. What we could never have prepared for, is what actually happened! #BeyondTheRagingSea, a film by renowned director Marco Orsini, is the story of our perilous Atlantic crossing attempt and harrowing fight for survival. A fight experienced by some of the 66 million displaced individuals around the world who have no choice but to set off on similar crossings in a desperate bid for safe refuge. We can’t wait for you all to see it. We are elated that it will be featured in the 71st Cannes Film Festival and are heading there this week for a private screening at the Marché du Film. The documentary will be making its global release later this year. #Cannes2018 #MDF2018 #BeyondTheRagingSea #WithRefugees

Omar Samra and Omar Nour went through a whole year of mental and physical training before going through the dangerous adventure. But even though they were ready, they faced a horrific experience that nearly took their lives, and thank God, they lived to tell the tale.

Day 08: Straight into the deep. Despite of the first tough week and the hard challenges, team O2s’ spirit is unbreakable, and so is their partnership. Starting to find a rhythm to settle into the routine of rowing continuously, suffering from sea sickness, staying hydrated and getting used to eating properly. They are advancing well, as they have rowed a distance of 479 NM till the moment, ranked 5th in pairs. It’s a tough competition, they are not only challenging others but also challenging themselves. O2 is moving forward by finding peace in the ocean, thinking about their families and loved ones, putting their goal in front of their eyes, and reaching the finish line at Antigua. @dhlexpress @wildguanabana @ventumracing @undparabic @unhcr_arabic Illustrated by @minstreldead #teamo2 #rowing4refugees #twac2017 #mountains2oceans #rowingtheatlantic #atlanticchallenge posted by admin.

Renowned Film Director, Marco Orsini, directed a movie about their experience, Beyond The Raging Sea, and it made it to the 71st Cannes Film Festival! The film will have a private screening at the Marché du Film!

The film tackles the fact that around 66 million refugees go through the same challenge in hope to flee the horrors of war to a safer life.

WE SAID THIS: The movie will be released globally later this year and we literally cannot wait to see it.
