Miss Philippines Just Won the Miss Universe 2018 Title
Miss Universe is a competition that celebrates womanhood, culture, and philanthropy. This year, the annual event took over news platform after Miss USA unintentionally mocked Miss Cambodia and Vietnam for not speaking English during a live social media Q and A session. Yet, today is all about the stunning lady crowned as Miss Universe 2018 during the coronation held at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Catriona Gray, a 24-year-old beauty queen from Albay, was all smiles after besting Miss South Africa and Miss Venezuela in the Top 3. The ceremony was hosted by Steve Harvey and body-empowering model Ashley Graham, and Ne-Yo performing.
Another Miss Universe event that has taken over headlines this week is one revolving around Miss Spain. Angela Ponce is the first transgender contestant in the competition’s history.
“I’m competing because it’s what I’ve wanted to do since I was a little girl,” Ponce told Time. “I’m showing that trans women can be whatever they want to be: a teacher, a mother, a doctor, a politician, and even Miss Universe.”
