Mawlid Sweets with a Twist: Discover Egypt’s Coolest New Creations

In the Arab world, there cannot be an occasion without food. Some of these holidays can even be completely scratched off if food isn’t present. You know, like how in Eid El Fetr, there has to be kahk on the table, or in Eid El Adha, there’s got to be fattah; it is a must.

Now, the same thing goes for Al-Mawlid Al-Nabawi, the day the Prophet was born. On that day, everyone eats halawat al-Mawlid, or Mawlid sweets.

To celebrate its upcoming arrival, we are introducing to you the coolest renditions of the beloved Mawlid sweets, created by some of Egypt’s finest patisseries and dessert shops:

Ice Cream El Mawlid – El Abd Patisserie

Yeah, this is a new one. El Abd Patisserie is coming in hot with an unexpected creation, Mawlid flavored ice cream.

So far, they’ve come up with two flavors, one the Fooliya (the peanut-covered sweet) and the other Semsema (sesame-covered sweet). They kept their slogan simple: “Because we know you love Fooliya and Semsema, we decided to turn it into an ice cream!” What do you think of this creation?

Malban Soirèe Box – Simonds

For those who love Mawlid sweets, the usual challenge is dealing with their large sizes—you might find yourself craving just one sesame nut (semseya) or a single ladeeda, a coconut biscuit concoction. To solve this conundrum, Simonds has introduced a creative solution tailored for malban enthusiasts.

Meet their Malban Soirèe Box, which comes in 8 flavors that include kahk with vanilla, pistachio, chocolate-covered pistachio stuffed and much more. Instead of eating one long stretch of malban, you can eat five or 6 of these mini alternatives.

Mawlid Kid’s Box – Tseppas

Al-Mawlid Al-Nabawi isn’t just about sweets. The holiday also brings together families to have a good time, and that is why one of its traditions includes taking the kids to mini-sized amusement parks where they get to swing on Muwlid swings, sort of shaped like boats.

Seeing how the holiday caters to children as well as adults, Tseppas came up with the fun idea of creating Mawlid Kid’s Box that serves up sweets for the kids!

Nuts Only Box – Dukes

Seeing as how Mawlid sweets come in loads of varieties, you are bound to prefer one sweet over another. That is why Dukes decided to give you the freedom of choice.

Their Mawlid sweets line is all about hearing the masses. That is why they came up with a nuts-only box as well as a malban-only box. Now you don’t have to scour the box for your favorite sweet and instead easily pluck it out in mere seconds.
