Jordanian Shoe Designer Amina Muaddi Joins Forces With Wolford for a Capsule Collection
Amina Muaddi’s shoe brand is influenced by Jordan, Romania, and Italy, as Amina grew up with many cultures, molding her tastes and interests. With shoe designing as Amina’s main focus, she worked even harder to get her brand recognized. This year, Amina Muaddi collaborated with Australian brand Wolford for a collection of leggings, tights, socks, bodysuits, and dresses.
On Amina
After realizing that her passion for designing shoes is what she wants to pursue, Amina studied at the European Institute of Design in Milan. With glamorous craftsmanship and a high sense of fashion, Amina co-founded her first shoe brand in Milan, Oscar Tiye. Afterwards in Paris, she collaborated with couturier Alexandre Vauthier to launch a shoe line. Later on in her journey, Rihanna asked her to design footwear for her brand Fenty, where two award-winning footwear collections were designed. Additionally, she collaborated with ASAP Rocky’s agency on a collection of her unique pumps and lace-up heels.
However, Amina Muaddi now only focuses on her own independent brand. Designed in Paris and produced in Italy, the Jordanian name remains consistent. When it comes to the Wolford collaboration, the chief commercial officer of the company said, “Amina Muaddi’s creativity and present-day vision represents a new important stimulus for us to explore modern femininity and offer garments to the women of today through which they can express their identity.”
“Wolford has always firmly believed in the innovative potential of collaborators, whose talent could enrich our products and challenge the boundaries of our experience. Amina Muaddi’s creativity and present-day vision represent a new important stimulus for us to explore modern femininity and offer garments to the women of today through which they can express their identity.”
said Silvia Azzali, Chief Commercial Officer of Wolford.
On Wolford
Wolford is an international Australian brand that produces tights, bodysuits, underwear, accessories, and women’s clothing. So when Amina announced her collaboration with them, we wondered if it would be shoes or something else entirely. The Romanian-Jordanian designer focused this time on a 17-piece capsule collection of tights, leggings, socks, dresses, and bodysuits. This is certainly not her first time designing a collection of ready-to-wear pieces, and given the fact that Amina is a consumer of the brand, Wolford is a perfect choice to collaborate with.
“I’ve always been a Wolford fan and client, to me the brand represents the epitome of quality legwear and bodywear and a symbol of refined femininity,”
said Muaddi
Amina’s preferred way of expressing her creative vision is through shoe designing, but this collaboration introduced her to a whole new world. The materials used in this collaboration are lace, latex, eco-leather, and viscose jersey. Additionally, the tights have a slit between the toes that allows the wearers to wear them with flip-flop heels.
