Jameela: The Ramadan Drama Exposing The Ugly Sides To Family

‘Jameela’, an Egyptian Ramadan show starring Reham Haggag as the eponymous character where family drama surrounds her left and right. Giving us viewers a front-row seat to a dysfunctional family. As you’ve got your popcorn in hand, we’ll leave it up to you to decide if their drama is purely for the shock factor or if it serves the plot.

The show follows Reham Haggag’s character, you guessed it, Jameela, who is powerful in the law field and is a walking moral compass.

She’s married to Ziyad (Hany Adel) and their life seems stable until her father passes away and leaves all his will to her and nothing to her siblings or mother played by Sawsan Badr. This is where the story kicks off as a tug of war begins between her and her family where they believe she knew of this plan all along and that something must be wrong, but she makes it her mission to learn why her father intended this. That they must’ve sinned, not being worthy; with that one dirty secret is exposed after the other.

This alone is enough to carry the plot, but on the other side, you have Jameela’s friend Sherry played noticeably well by Yosra Lozy as we’re not used to seeing her in cunning roles. Sherry’s character is also friends with Ziyad’s ex-wife and they’re scheming day and night for a way to get their hands on the will.

There are many threads to the show that if you think about them your head will start to hurt and they will all result in Jameela being an angel somehow.

Though the show is heavy-handed with the shock factor, so far it has kept us interested.
