For years, the loose regulations and lack of awareness had led to the deterioration of the cleanliness of the Nile River, Egypt’s one and only source of drinkable water. Millions of tonnes of waste are thrown into the river on a yearly basis, with no regard for its well-balanced ecosystem.

Today, more than one hundred volunteers from Verynile and Rotary, got together and managed to remove 4.5 tonnes of plastic waste from Al-Qanater area, with help from the Nile TAXI and the Egyptian Canoe and Kayak Federation.
