The wedding night dreams of a Saudi groom came crashing down by his wife’s behavior on their big night, as she kept on texting her friends on her cell phone to respond to their congratulatory messages. The poor guy could not take it and divorced her.
The groom took his bride back to their hotel room after the ceremony in the city of Jeddah, and rather than sealing the deal, the bride ignored her husband and refused to stop sending texts and come to bed. The groom reportedly was enraged after giving up on getting closer with her and “become more intimate,” according to one of the groom’s relatives who disclosed some of the post-marriage details to Al Watan El Saudi newspaper.
“When he asked her about the reasons, she answered she was busy communicating with her friends who were congratulating her on her marriage on the mobile,” he said. “When he asked her if her friends were more important than he was, the bride answered that they were,” the source continued.
In the heat of the argument that followed, the groom told his new wife he was divorcing her and left the hotel room. The relative explained that a divorce case was filed and when the court referred the case to a reconciliation committee, the man refused to forgive his wife.
Saudi Arabia has staggering growing figures of divorce rates among newlyweds, reaching around 50 percent. Maybe this is all just a well-executed plan by the bride. If many marriages in Saudi Arabia are arranged, what better way to end a marriage and offend your forcibly destined husband than just ignoring him and say that your friends are more important?!?!
