Easter Traditions
Easter is a holiday that is all about tradition and food plays a major role in this. Easter eggs are the most obvious food-related tradition with eggs being symbolic of new life and fertility. Hot Cross buns are traditionally eaten on Good Friday with the cross symbolizing the crucifixion.
Roast Lamb is another traditional dish usually served on Easter Sunday. This is linked with Easter due to Jesus being the sacrificial lamb of god, plus lots of lambs are born at this time of year and symbolize life.
Simnel cake is another tradition at this time of year. This is a cake with a layer of marzipan in the middle as well as 11 marzipan balls on the top to represent the apostles (with Judas left out). Various different bread recipes are also common at this time of the year with bread said to represent the body of Christ and being served at The Last Supper.
Easter is always a special time of the year and a great chance to spend quality time together as a family. This is also a holiday season where food plays a major role and it is a chance to get creative in the kitchen and indulge in all kinds of delicious treats.
WE SAID THIS: Easter is best spent with family, but what’s even better is the food you share.
