Death toll Mounts in Wake of Hurricane Daniel in Libya

Scenes of utter devastation emerge from the coastal city of Derna; aerial photographs show a staggering 25% of the city was swept into the sea as the situation was made worse with the destruction of two dams to the south.

Families of the estimated 12K missing people including many Egyptians working there took to social media to find more about their lost brethren or lament the passing of individuals and even entire families.

Rescue efforts are still underway with the priority to remove the dead from the streets as risks of disease grow with passing time.
