Brazil to Bring Their Football Magic to Riyadh in Friendly Match Against Argentina
The Brazilian Football Confederation has announced that the country’s national team is heading to the Arabian Peninsula for a number of friendly international matches at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Clásico del Atlántico, or as FIFA calls it: the Battle of the South Americans, is an infamous football rivalry between the national teams of Brazil and Argentina, and for the first time in the region’s history, it is coming to the capital of Saudi Arabia. The showdown between these two football giants is set to take place at the King Saud University Stadium on the 15th of November.
“The last two commitments of the Brazilian national team in 2019 are defined. In November, Brazil will face Argentina on the 15th and South Korea on the 19th,” CBF said in a statement on their website.
“The South American classic will be played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The stage of the match will be King Saud University Stadium, the same place where Brazil defeated the Saudi team in 2018. Gabriel Jesus and Alex Sandro scored the goals on that occasion in a 2-0 victory.” The statement continues.
Several world-renowned footballers such as Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar, on-loan Bayern Munich midfielder Philippe Coutinho, and Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus are set to play in these upcoming matches.
However, it is possible that Neymar could sit on the bench as he suffered an injury in Brazil’s match against Singapore in Nigeria.
