An Exclusive Look At Ras Al Khaimah’s Latest Spectacle: Oblivion Music Festival

In its fourth edition, the Oblivion Music Festival is back with a three-day rave on top of the Jebel Jais mountain in UAE’s Ras Al Khaimah. The Festival will be held from Oct. 28 to 30 and ticket prices will start from Dhs220. This year’s edition, titled Oblivion Chapter 4: The Renaissance, is inviting all ravers to experience an incredible line-up of performers who will celebrate the genre of techno and electronic music.

The event, organized by Black Mountain Entertainment, will bring German DJ and producer Chris Liebing as the headliner to blow the crowd away with a unique range of techno music. Liebing has massively impacted the techno scene globally through his top-charted tracks. With his presence at the festival, the organizers hope that he inspires rising artists to carry on electronic dance music.

We spoke with Black Mountain Entertainment organizers to learn more about this edition. In keeping with Dubai style, they described themselves as “a collection of multi-disciplinary visionaries, with the goal of using their talents, experience, and passion to elevate the status quo of the music entertainment industry.” The Oblivion Festival organizers made it clear that they wanted to help the UAE achieve its ambition of becoming the Middle East’s entertainment center. They frequently design events with distinctive settings, cutting-edge production, and artists, to create an overall unmatched experience.

Tickets for the festival will grant guests access to a camping spot, showers, and washrooms plus free shuttle services from Dubai and Abu Dhabi. There will also be an exclusive pre-camp party at Bear Grylls Explorers on Friday the 28th, with ticket prices at Dhs357 per person.

The fourth edition aims to combine music and art, creating a beautiful visual experience that will simultaneously provide a muli-sensorial experience for the crowd. Oblivion hopes to incorporate this artistic angle by using the latest technologies in its production arsenal. It will witness the merging of high-tech art from unique light systems manipulation to visual images in an effort to offer a thrilling encounter for visitors in a world where art and music have become entwined. Large music festivals like South Wales’ Green Man have a history of blending art and music. The 2016 version of this festival saw organizers hire ten visual artists to create artistic works that were displayed throughout the event so that attendees may appreciate the beauty of the featured art and music.

Contrary to this year’s mountainous venue, Oblivion by Black Mountain Chapter 3 was set at Dubai Festival City. This edition brought an array of talented artists such as international techno artist Nina Kraviz, one of the world’s biggest names in electronic music. She was accompanied by German DJ, Lilly Palmer, who is best known for the exhilarating sets that she performs around the world.
