Azimuth Festival Will Celebrate Saudi’s National Day Through An Extraordinary Lineup Of Musicians

On Sept. 23, Saudi Arabia observes its National Day marking the country’s unification by King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud in 1932 and its renaming from the Kingdom of Najd and Hijaz to Saudi Arabia. Since 2005, this day has been observed annually, and this year’s festivities will include some of the top international musicians currently active in the scene.

Therefore, leading local and international musicians are scheduled to play at AlUla to commemorate the 92nd Saudi National Day according to Arab News. The event is scheduled to take place as part of the Azimuth Festival, powered by MDLBEAST. Speaking with the event’s planners revealed that this is “the inaugural festival and event on AlUla Moments schedule for this year.” Regional and local musicians like Damian Lazarus, DJ Snake, Parov Stelar, ANMARZ, Vinyl Mode, KAYAN, Solskin, Dish Dash, Baloo, Birdperson, Nomad, and Gooner will all be present at the festival.

The event is scheduled to begin today at 8 p.m. and last until 6 a.m. Then the show will be on from 4:30 p.m. on Friday until 6 a.m. on Saturday. Arab News quoted Saudi DJ Baloo, the man behind Azimuth 2022, as saying, “We’re incredibly happy to be throwing Azimuth this year over the national day weekend, in the gorgeous and enchanted AlUla.”

The festival is taking place in the same valley where the Desert X AlUla art exhibition was hosted earlier this year. Philip Jones, Royal Commission of AlUla’s chief management and marketing officer, described the event as an exquisite experience that fits the brand of AlUla as a premium luxury destination.

Jones stated:

“One of the things we want to do is nurture and develop the entertainment industry in Saudi Arabia, and because AlUla lends itself to such amazing backdrops with film and entertainment and videos, we wanted to use it as an opportunity to really highlight that aspect of it and develop the existing local talent and showcase it.”

This year, AlUla Moments will host a number of festivals and events, including Azimuth, Winter at Tantora, AlUla Wellness Festival, and for the first time, The Ancient Kingdoms Festival, which is motivated by the renowned incense trading route and 7,000 years of succeeding civilizations on the Arabian Peninsula.

Finally, the organizers made sure for us to know that the 2022 edition of AZIMUTH is returning with “a fresh approach, bringing the best of the nation’s popular DJs together with international acts to celebrate the blend of cultures and promote continued dialogue between east and west.” Also, attendees will be able to take advantage of Saudi National day holiday and explore AlUla’s magical moments with music, arts, food, and retail.
