We here in Egypt have been bombarded with lots of price tags these past couple of months that are causing some serious damage to our mental health. The prices of TVs have hit the roof, only adrenaline junkies would actually consider buying cars after the Egyptian pound floatation. Grocery shopping has become a painful experience, and so much more.

Yet, we can’t help but wonder whether the products our government call “Estefzazyea” (products you can live without) are actually that unnecessary and a bit luxurious. Deodorants? The last time I checked that was kind of crucial. Beauty products? Well, we would gladly buy an Egyptian alternative if we have an acceptable quality.

Here are 10 things that are so bad we could live without in Egypt, just don’t take away the deodorant and Nutella.

The Internet. Who are we kidding? TE Data and Link DSL barely work for two days in a row, not to mention if more than three people are working on the same Wi-Fi
