Every now and then, God shows Egypt mercy and hope by sending us small gifts that leave us beaming with excitement. Then along come 23da2 elnaga7 to ruin it for all of us. It doesn’t matter how much we rant on social media or protest on TV shows, because when it comes to Egypt, when nice things are gone, they’re gone for good.

Here are 13 times we couldn’t have small pleasures in life:

1. Staying in on Friday nights never sounded better back in the good old Bassem Youssef days

2. Millions of Egyptians took to the streets during the revolution, but sexual harassment had to start happening, forcing women to stay home

3. We love Abla Fahita and all, but it was Shady Abu Zaid’s crazy moments that went viral

4. Oh no! You feel comfortable and safe with Uber and Careem? Let’s get rid of them for the sake of taxi drivers who treat you like crap

5. Will Egypt’s gem, Sharm El Sheikh, ever bounce back?

10. Egyptian Instagram that is nothing but influencers being manipulated by brands, which brainwashes the younger generation into thinking Internet fame is a career
