Another grand opening, another milestone in the city of excess, nothing beats the glitz and glam of the light show across the Dubai skyline. Declaring yet a new monument amongst the seemingly countless skyscrapers and unique buildings defying all odds. One of which is the Museum of the Future which opened on Feb.22.
The Opening
The set date for the opening 02.22.2022 was intended to symbolize how unique and special this place is. This event took place right in front of the museum with HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, along with Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance initiating the ceremony. Making it a night to remember with the most incredible light spectacle, grabbing the attention of all the guests and anyone around to witness this greatness.
The Idea
The idea behind this museum is for it to be a hub for the future. Essentially a Mecca for all the inventors and innovators from around the world to meet and put their latest inventions on display. Also, the building offers an immersive virtual reality experience to visitors for just 145 AED (40 USD). This museum also has different types of shows and illustrations that were hinted at by a video of some sort of futuristic spaceship landing inside the museum that was posted a couple of days before the opening on the museum’s official media page.
The Building
Named the “most beautiful building on earth” and rightfully so, The Museum of the Future is a literal architectural miracle. Built with no pillars inside the building, stands atop a hill right on Sheikh Zayed Road. The building is iconic on two accounts. First, the fact that it is standing seven floors tall solely because of how smart of a design it is with no pillars inside the building making it hollow inside which leads to the second iconic aspect about the building which is that because it’s hollow on the inside and covered with see-through calligraphy designs, the pure aesthetic of the futuristic building with a touch of heritage serves the meaning of the unknown future that is made known by having a forward-thinking attitude that is grounded by remembering our Arabic roots.
