Everything You Want to Know About Dubai’s Dancing Fountain, From Performances to Design

Dubbed as the “Dancing Fountain”, the Dubai Mall fountain is the world’s tallest performing fountain. As much as the Mall is filled with activities and attractions that both Dubai tourists and residents can never get tired of, the fountain is one of our favorite spots.

With its diverse musical performances and dazzling lights, the fountain should be at the top of your list if you’re heading to the mall. And just like Dubai hosts countless nationalities, the fountain dances to the tunes of songs in many languages.

Design

Set on the 30-acre Burj Khalifa Lake spread out across 900 feet, this fountain was designed by the same designers as Las Vegas’ Bellagio Hotel Lake fountain.

Light and height

It shoots water up to 500 feet high, and can spray up to 22,000 gallons of water in the air at once, with 6,600 WET superlights and 25 color projectors.

Location

There are a number of options for you to pick from when deciding how you’d like to enjoy the fountain. You can choose to dine at one of the many restaurants surrounding the fountain, with both indoor and outdoor seating, or you can hop into a traditional Abra for a fascinating ride in the Burj Lake. And if you don’t feel fancy, you can also opt to stand among the crowds and just enjoy the show!

Performances

Since its opening in May 2009, the fountain has danced to several famous songs, such as Micheal Jackson’s “Thriller”, Um Kalthoum’s “Inta ‘Omry”, Enrique Iglesias’ “Hero”, Adele’s “Skyfall”, and Rashed Al-Majed’s “Dubai Kawkab Akhar”, or Dubai is a whole other planet, which it definitely is!

Show times

In the evening, performances are held daily every 30 minutes, between 6 pm and 11 pm, in addition to two shows at 1 pm and 1:30 pm, from Saturday to Thursday, and two shows at 1:30 pm and 2 pm, on Friday.

WE SAID THIS: Have you been to the fountain yet?
