Zewail City To Open School for Scientifically-Gifted Students

By Nada Abdelkader

Zewail City for Science and Technology is an independent institution that has the basic set of goals any learning institution should have: knowledge through research and innovation.

It may be a shock that it was such a long time ago, but Zewail City started as a mere concept, only nineteen years ago in 1999, and was eventually built after a few minor setbacks, in May of 2011. One special law later, students were allowed to enroll into ZCST’s university in 2012.

The next step for this important project will be a school to be launched inside the city’s parameters for students who are scientifically-gifted.

According to his interview with Al-Nahar’s channel talk-show, Businessman Samih Sawiris, a member of the Board of Trustees of ZCST, stated that this school will be a den of scientific experiments for schools around the world and will release after a period of time a special, 100 percent Egyptian-made curriculum that the board will call on the government to adopt and use in all of the country’s schools.

Sawiris added that the school will have a completely fair and unbiased admission process and will only select qualified students, who have to pass its admission test. He also said that they aim to be globally known since they have already received universal patents.

WE SAID THIS: WE HOPE THIS CAN BE A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR EGYPTIAN EDUCATION
