Free Accommodation for Workers in the UAE Under New Law

UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced that workers who are employed in establishments hiring more than 50 workers and are paid less than Dhs 2,000 will be granted free accommodation.

“The decree came following recent studies related to the labour market,” Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Saqr Ghobash mentioned in a statement.

“Experts spent several months studying the living conditions of those workers, who have been listed in the ministry’s classifications system as low-skill labourers. The ministry follows up on the workers’ housing via inspection visits and takes legal action against violating facilities,” he added.
